چکیده
Abstract Numerical simulations of particle-laden flows have received growing attention in the last decade, due to broad spectrum industrial applications which discrete phases prediction is interest. Among these, ingestion particles by turbomachinery an area that seeing vivid research and studies. The most common technique tackle this kind problem Eulerian–Lagrangian method, individual are tracked inside domain. At same time, multistage simulation interfaces needed couple flow solution adjacent domains relative motion. In work, open-source extension for Lagrangian rotating machines presented foam-extend environment. First, a thorough discussion implementation presented, with particular emphasis on particle passage through general grid (GGI) mixing planes. Moreover, mass-conservative redistribution described, as such property requested at between multiple reference frame (MRF). peculiarities algorithm then shown relevant test case. Eventually, three complexity, show capabilities numerical code real-life applications. Simulation results terms erosion impacts aerodynamic surfaces also examples possible parameters interest computations.

Granular and Particle-Laden Flows
This research programme at the Newton Institute was devoted to improving the understanding and mathematical modelling of granular and particle-laden fluid systems as they arise in nature, in the laboratory and in industry. Geophysical examples of granular and particle-laden flows include rock avalanches, debris flows, mud flows and turbulent boundary layers with suspended particles, such as vol...
متن کاملIncompressible smoothed particle hydrodynamics simulations on free surface flows
The water wave generation by wave paddle and a freely falling rigid body are examined by using an Incompressible Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics (ISPH). In the current ISPH method, the pressure was evaluated by solving pressure Poisson equation using a semi-implicit algorithm based on the projection scheme and the source term of pressure Poisson equation contains both of divergence free ve...
متن کاملAccounting for finite-size effects in simulations of disperse particle-laden flows
A numerical formulation for Eulerian–Lagrangian simulations of particle-laden flows in complex geometries is developed. The formulation accounts for the finite-size of the dispersed phase. Similar to the commonly used point-particle formulation, the dispersed particles are treated as point-sources, and the forces acting on the particles are modeled through drag and lift correlations. In additio...

متن کاملSelf-similarity in particle laden flows at constant volume
We consider constant volume thin film slurries on an incline. Clear fluids in this geometry are known to have a front position that moves according to a t scaling law, based on similarity solution analysis [Huppert, Nature, 1982]. We investigate the same dynamics for particle laden flow using a recently proposed lubrication model for the slurry and physical experiments. Our analysis includes th...
